Workshop Focus: Wakeem/Teschner Nature Preserve at Resler Canyon educational hike. People will learn about the native plants in our region and the importance of conserving open spaces. Must register for this event. Free hike capped at first 10 people. Once this max has been reached, you will be put on a waiting list, in case of cancellations. Registrants will be notified if they were in the first 10 to sign up. Masks will be required. CPE Credit(s) Granted from Region 19 for this workshop.

Workshop Focus: Helping wildlife, wildlife concerns in our neighborhoods and what to do if you find wildlife in need.

Workshop Focus: A presentation of Earthship greenhouse styles, foods that grow well indoors, closed systems that reduce reliance on outside inputs such as composting, humanure, production of soil amendments and other green technologies will be discussed.

Workshop Focus: Earthship Academy programs and Community outreach scholarship. A Q&A will follow. ***This is the workshop to attend, if you are interested in entering the Green Hope Project essay contest to get a free Academy course, where you will be trained on how to make an Earthship, while staying in the Earthship community in Taos, NM! Workshop Focus: Help us cleanup trash along the Playa Drain Trail segment of the Paso del Norte as part of National Celebrate Trails Day. Participants will also learn about green infrastructure storm water harvesting and wildlife habitats along the trail! 

Workshop Focus: This presentation will address solar cooking in El Paso, with a Q@A at the end.

Workshop Focus: Do you know what to throw in your blue bin? Please join ESD’s Outreach Team for a presentation on recycling basics!

Workshop Focus: 1) historic segregation in El Paso 2) neighborhoods dealing with the environmental consequences of historic segregation 3) what justice might look like for those neighborhoods.

Workshop Focus: I would like to do a presentation/power mapping exercise on the environmental history of El Paso and the current apparatus.

Workshop Focus: We will be presenting on Eco El Paso, our initiatives, projects with the public and other nonprofits, public policy, education, and yearly events.
 

Workshop Focus: The public can have a huge impact on land preservation. Since 1978 the Franklin Mountains Wilderness Coalition (FMWC) has encouraged public participation and helped create the Franklin Mountains State Park. The FMWC has been involved with preservation of Castner Range, Lost Dog Trails, the Knapp land and more. YOU can make a difference. Workshop capped at first 40 people. Workshop Focus: Our Nerd Nights serve as a means to connect and engage with our adult audience by bringing in experts/enthusiasts to discuss the science, culture, history, etc of different topics. For April's Nerd Night we will be celebrating Citizen (Community) Science Month and have speakers discuss different outdoor/environmental activities their organizations offer to the public, along with potential citizen (community) science and/or volunteer opportunities. Workshop Focus: General overview of all of Insights STEAM initiatives including information about our DinoTracks site, a rich local paleontology site at which we offer guided hiking tours the soon-to-form Friends of DinoTracks volunteer group.

Workshop Focus: This workshop will focus on the work of Frontera Land Alliance and its impact on the community with preservation of natural lands, farms and ranches, as well as volunteer opportunities.

Workshop Focus: We will address the effort to make Castner Range a national monument and why preservation of these 7,081 acres is important to the community and region.

Workshop Focus: Soil is all around us, but many do not stop to consider its make-up. In this activity, we will learn about soil particle size, see a demonstration of water infiltration, learn how to hand texture soil, and what it all means and learn why it is important. We will also talk about how STEM is one of the four Girl Scout pillars and how girls (and adults) can get involved. Participants will need 1 - 2 cups of soil from their yard/park/area, a disposable plastic cup (preferably clear about 10- 12 oz), water and paper towels for clean-up.

Workshop Focus: This is a call to those that are interested in being a part of our Call-to-Action Committee. The topic that we will address this year is illegal tire dumping and pollution. We would like to discuss how to reduce this material polluting our region and offer suggestions for repurposing. Local officials, community members, and anyone in the general public that would like to help with this are invited to attend! Meetings will take place on a monthly basis to move forward discussions and ideas on this topic. We will report back on the status of this topic at the next environmental summit.

Workshop Focus: Michael Reynolds, our Summit Keynote Speaker & Earthship Creator, will discuss how the concept of Earthships began and the history of its evolution. There will also be a 30 min Q&A at the end.

Workshop Focus: I discuss farming in the desert, as an act of resilience and hope, and how we can find a sense of belonging through connecting with our environment. The presenter has a master's degree in horticulture and has launched two local school farms in El Paso. She has a deep love for the desert and wants to help grow that love in our community.

Workshop Focus: Our presentation will introduce you to our non-profit food rescue organization, No Lost Food, and how we are helping to reduce food waste & hunger in the El Paso community.

Workshop Focus: Earthship Humanitarian Projects - This presentation will go in-depth about the different Humanitarian Projects that Earthship Biotecture has done over the years, including our most recent projects of Haiti and Puerto Rico!

Workshop Focus: This presentation is a shortened version of a 4-hour professional development hosted by Insights in December 2020 that will share and model strategies to incorporate environmental science concepts into teachers' environmental science or any other science classes. The workshop will focus on utilizing technology to bring students closer to the ecosystem they live in and others around the world, including: Google Earth Tours, online Citizen Science projects and simulations. There will be a cap of 30 participants for this workshop.

Workshop Focus: In this workshop, we will create planters using old plastic soda bottles. Supplies will be provided to those that register. We will cut, paint, draw, and paste items onto the water bottles to create a one-of-a-kind artwork that keeps items out of the landfill! This workshop is capped at 15. Once this max has been reached, you will be put on a waiting list, in case of cancellations. Registrants will be notified if they were in the first 15 to sign up.

Workshop Focus: Infrastructure / I-10 / River Valley & proposed I-10 expansion through El Paso's Urban Core.

Workshop Focus: Climate Justice in El Paso - An introduction to Sunrise El Paso and our ongoing campaigns. This will include a look into the fight to stop Newman 6, education and food sovereignty initiatives, imagining a green new deal for our region, and combating environmental injustice.

Workshop Focus: How to Teach Your Students about Our Ecosystem -- and how They can Help Heal Mother Earth.

Workshop Focus: Virtual Tour of Earthship Structures. This will be a pre-filmed walk-through of our different nightly rental units.  I will be available to talk about the video footage and answer any questions.

Workshop Focus: This will be an informational presentation that talks about Green Hope Project, who we are, and what we do. Our non-profit focuses on art, education and environmentalism. We’re always seeking volunteers! Come listen to how you can assist with cleanup projects, art-related events, and find out about a call for educators to help us write environmental/art curriculum!
